The Remarkables are a mountain range and ski field located in the South Island of New Zealand. Situated on the south-eastern shore of In wintertime, The Remarkables plays host to a wide range of winter activities. Comprising of three sunny sheltered bowls with a festive family atmosphere; just a 45-minute drive from nearby Queenstown; frequent bus services to and from town; and several carparks for car drivers, the mountain certainly is in a convenient location. Most skiers stay in Queenstown and commute to the ski field each day. The ski field is 220 hectares (540 acres) with 5 lifts, which comprises of 3 quad chairs, 1 beginner tow and 1 magic carpet. The longest run to be found at The Remarkables is 1.5km. The ski season runs from Late June through to October weather permitting. The mountains were allegedly named The Remarkables because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south.
